Borehole stressmeter

The vibrating wire stressmeter for rock boreholes are designed to monitor stress variations within rock masses and can be installed in boreholes up to 30 meters deep. The instrument consists of a high-strength steel sensing ring, firmly anchored to the borehole wall, and a tensioned vibrating wire positioned along the opposite diameter. Variations in rock stress cause changes in the wire tension, resulting in a corresponding shift in its resonant frequency. The frequency variation is converted into an output signal, which can be acquired through compatible portable readout units or dataloggers, ensuring accurate and reliable long-term monitoring.
