GESTECNO shock and vibration sensors are essentially accelerometers providing a 4–20 mA electrical output signal proportional to the vector sum of accelerations along the X, Y, and Z axes. Operation starting from very low frequencies prevents detection of gravitational acceleration, making the measurement independent of the sensor orientation relative to the Earth’s axis. Thanks to an integrated microcontroller, the highest peak value of the instantaneous signal is retained for a configurable period of time ranging from 1 second to 1 hour. This allows the analog value to be acquired using standard data loggers and monitoring units commonly employed in geotechnical and structural monitoring applications.
