Wire crackmeters

The wire crack meter is an instrument designed for continuous monitoring of displacements between two points, particularly suitable for applications involving large distances or significant movement variations. The instrument consists of a potentiometric transducer, a steel wire, and a remote anchor point. The wire, maintained under constant tension between the two measuring points, allows accurate detection of distance variations over time. Measurement is obtained through the rotation of an internal potentiometer proportional to the wire displacement, enabling automated monitoring even over long distances. Thanks to its configuration, the instrument is particularly suitable for monitoring slow and progressive movements typically associated with landslides, structural settlement, and deformation of large structures. The rugged construction and high protection rating make the sensor suitable for permanent installation in severe outdoor environments.
